Baz's subject matter is influenced by a broad interest in primitive art. His carvings are reminiscent of imagery found in Inuit or Native American carving such as shamanistic animal carvings, Celtic or Indian gods and goddesses and other works usually based on his love of the natural world. These are made from alabaster, soapstone, slate or local serpentine stone from the Lizard peninsula.
